After graduation with honors in 2000, I spent approximately 18 months working in one of the top practices in South Africa. During this time I lectured part time and maintained a keen academic involvement running several design workshops and student crits.
In 2002 I left for London where I started working for Dixon Hughes, an up and coming young practice based in Kings Cross. During this time I gained invaluable experience on both the design and technical side of architecture. With a variety of projects ranging from restaurant fit outs to new built offices, the small office setup gave me a wide exposure to all the various aspects of running projects of all sizes.
When Dixon Hughes merged with Austin:Smith-Lord (ASL) in 2003, the switch from small practice to big architectural office once again provided me with ample opportunity to work on large scale projects within a well established office. I soon took over the design responsibilities in the office and apart from running the design team in the London office played a pivotal role in defining ASL’s design agenda across all the offices in the UK.
